With generous support from the John Templeton Foundation, Beyond the Ivory Tower: The Public Scholars Project works with natural scientists, social scientists, and philosophers who want to communicate their ideas to broad audiences.

We’re back! From 2021 through 2026, Beyond the Ivory Tower held 15 workshops at Northeastern University, building on six earlier workshops. With a new grant from the John Templeton Foundation, the Public Scholars Project will host ten workshops over the next five years at Wake Forest University.

Our first Wake Forest workshop will take place Friday, January 15, and Saturday, January 16, 2027, at The Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Applications are due by end of day Friday, October 9, 2026. Apply here.
